Cycle with a Club
Bike Clubs: The Bike Coalition’s Origin Story
The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition was formed in 1987 when cycling clubs came together with one voice. To this day, clubs are at the heart of San Diego’s cycling community, bringing together riders of all interests and skill levels. Whether you’re a commuter, a weekend warrior, or a racing enthusiast, joining a bike club offers camaraderie, support, and opportunities to ride in a group setting. Clubs provide structured rides, skill-building opportunities, and a sense of belonging, enhancing the cycling experience.
The Coalition and Bike Clubs: Stronger Together
The San Diego County Bicycle Coalition proudly supports all bike clubs in our region. By working together, we amplify our collective voice and strengthen advocacy efforts for safer streets, better infrastructure, and a more bike-friendly city. The Coalition serves as a unifying force, ensuring that the concerns of all cyclists are represented in policy discussions and city planning efforts.
Membership and Advocacy Support
Bike clubs are an important part of the Coalition, and as such, support our advocacy, education programs, and community outreach. These member organizations help develop support for initiatives that benefit all cyclists, from separated bikeways and safe roadway maintenance to legislation that prioritizes cycling safety. Being part of the Coalition means being part of a movement that actively shapes the future of biking in San Diego.
